Hi, Iām Elaina C. Rodriguez garza.
I am a board certified and state licensed occupational therapist currently working as a pediatric occupational therapist. My pediatric clients are primarily underserved Latino children with neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder. My past leadership work includes inspiring and developing occupational, speech, and physical therapy practitioners within my department. My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Pyschology from the illustrious Tuskegee University, a Master of Arts in Occupational Therapy from the University of Southern California and an Occupational Therapy Doctorate from the University of Southern California with a focus on clinical care.
My philosophies
heart-centered leadership
Leadership is sometimes seen as a position of authority but is not where true power lies. True power is leading from the heart to serve those around you as well as those impacted by your leadership, such as patients, as if they are your loved ones. My platforms are to share my journey as a heart-centered leader whether in a position of leadership or not.
accessible care
My clinical care has been focused around working with underserved communities. Largely Latino individuals who may be underinsured, uninsured, Spanish speaking, difficulty with access to resources, and other life circumstances that create barriers to healthcare. My platforms are meant to make health and wellness accessible and to share my opinions and resources for addressing health disparities.
cultural authenticity
I am a proud Tejana with Mexican roots and hold my family and community stories with love. Embracing my identity and living authentically has helped me find spaces and opportunities where I am appreciated and celebrated for who I am. My platforms will embrace my cultural perspective to educate and provide resources for those working with similar communities, encourage cultural humility to embrace all cultures, and inspire others to live authentically personally and professionally.
connection
Connection is a physiological need. We learn, heal, and thrive through connection. I hope to create spaces where individuals can connect with another on a deeper level. In addition, I aspire to share resources for individuals to practice connecting with the self and others whether for personal or professional purposes such as working with clients and their loved ones.
mindful practices
The present is a gift. Scientific evidence shows that tapping into that gift in a mindful way benefits us as individuals and also those around us. My resources and content will be curated mindfully and I hope to educate and inspire others to practice mindfulness in their daily life as well as when working directly with clients.
